The hubbub over the DNC email hack is just stupid given what was found. I keep seeing BernieBros AND the media calling the emails hard evidence that the Party was “colluding” or “plotting” to ruin Sanders, but the actual emails don’t reveal anything more than party officials who are annoyed with the Sanders campaign and trying to figure out how to nudge him out once Clinton clinched the nomination. Someone called a Sanders supporter a “Bernie Bro”. Shit, call the FBI!
Though a lot of Sanders supporters seem to be satisfied with getting Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s scalp, which I’m totally OK with. She was mediocre at her job and was going to retire from her position after this campaign anyway. Besides that, the DNC basically gets taken over by the winning candidate’s staff after they clinch the nomination, so it’s not like DWS’s resignation will have any meaningful effect on the campaign or election.
Dems made the smart decision by removing her since she was the focal point (fairly or not) of a lot of Bernie Bro ire. Ditto with letting Sanders people have a big say in the platform. Both of these things are ultimately meaningless beyond optics (which is all Bernie Sanders or his people seem to care about anyway) but kept the whiners happy.
In other news, Philly is suffering from a heatwave and the weather reports say it will feel like 109 degrees today. Good luck to any protestors—it’s going to be really bad out there.
